About this Event
Every year many construction site workers are killed or injured as a result of their work; others suffer ill health, such as musculoskeletal disorders, dermatitis or asbestosis.
The hazards are not, however, restricted to those working on sites. Children and other members of the public are also killed or injured because construction activities have not been adequately controlled (Ref: UK HSG 150 – Health and Safety in Construction).
Whilst “construction sites” can cover a wide range of areas and activities, in this networking event let’s get “Back to Basics”.
Using a combination of discussions, break out rooms and opinions polls let’s talk about Construction Safety, focusing on a construction site or the industry as a whole i.e., a “helicopter” view.
What would we consider to be the basics when it comes to preventing immediate danger to the public around a construction site, or the workers at a construction site, as well as making sure that the finished product of construction meets required safety standards. It’s a big subject, but let’s start with some fundamentals.
