Below, I want to share with you my journey on how RedRisks came into existence along with the other bits (Consultancy, Academy and Media). I know it’s a “tome”, but I do think it’s important for me to share.
I graduated from the University of Bradford with a degree in Chemical Engineering, many years ago!
Since graduating, I have worked at various levels, from shop floor to board room. My key technical skills and expertise are in Safety and Risk Management.
After several years in Staff capacity, in 2016, I started my Consultancy practice. As an independent consultant, I offer Clients my expertise as a Risk and Safety Practitioner. In fact, this remains my core business and area of activity.
I really do enjoy what I do and I get hugely motivated knowing that what I do “can and does make a huge difference in people’s lives.”
Around mid-2019, I began to realise how frustrating and expensive it was getting digital (or IT) support services that allowed me to achieve what I wanted to achieve i.e., to “create a digital platform to generate revenue, allow interaction and engagement with like-minded professionals.”
Regardless of who was offering the digital/IT service, every time I wanted to change something, the $$$$ just got bigger!
After spending nearly $50K and having nothing meaningful to show for that expense, it was time for me to take control.
During the second half of 2019, I spent time and effort learning digital skills. This included coding, graphics, audio/video recording and editing, YouTube. You name it…I was either doing it or learning how to do it.
It was hard work and came at a huge sacrifice, including spending some quality time with my family. However, my family supported me and this encouraged me to persevere.
In 2020, I was ready! After a lot of research, I came up with the concept of RedRisks, which initially started as “Reduce Risks“. But, RedRisks sounded much better.
During 2020 and 2021, I did an enormous amount of work related to digital media and marketing. This included Live Events, Webinars, Websites, Social Media, Self-Publishing and much more.
Of course, COVID meant that I was also “house bound” and this allowed me to apply my “new skills” with Clients and learn more and more each passing day.
Fast forward and looking back, I can honestly say that what I learnt and applied allowed me to achieve my goals and aspirations.
Going solo and taking control was the best decision I made regarding digital media and marketing.
RedRisks has taken shape as:
- Consultancy – Aligns with my “original” core skills and support services.
- Academy – I am passionate about mentoring and succession planning. Academy, allows me to share knowledge and expertise globally, for FREE!
- Media – Well, this is what got me here and something that I have been told that I am “very good at“. I never stop learning.
Oops…I took a lot words above to share”My Journey”. There’s a lot more, but I am mindful that I might be boring you to tears.
To finish off, I have just the following to share:
In the world of digital media and marketing, the only way to achieve “real” success is to take control of your journey.
There is nothing to fear and a lot to gain.
And 2022 onwards? Well, the journey continues, hence, watch this space 🙂
